TickerTactics

I built a 'Stock Trading Game' during the last 3 weeks. The idea was looming a long time already. I have the original board game since the 80ies (yes I'm a boomer), but a lot of friends I played with in earlier times are living abroad somewhere in the world now. As a retired software engineer I tought I can test this AI - Vibe Coding with a specific goal in my mind. Make an online playable version of the game. Here is the result: https://tickertactics.games I did not know 'Convex' before and stumbled over it and 'Clerk' during my daily 'YouTube research'. I know some AstroJS and React stuff, found Shadcn/UI a while ago So the tech stack was given. Most of the project was coded with the help of Kilo Code and several LL models Which models I used? I was lucky to get $100 in credits from the last Kilo Community Webcast, so I could try also the more expensive ones. - I started with 'Anthropic / Claude Sonnet 4' - changed soon to 'Openai Gpt 5' with wich I did most of the coding - I moved out to 'Figma AI' sometimes to get an idea for the UI (game board and mobile boards) - towards the finishing line I changed to 'X-ai / Grok Code Fast 1' which helped me with some game logic (state management) All in all I'm absolutely impressed and stunned what one can achieve with those models. However, I believe it helps a lot when you know what you are doing and looking for. Also to ask the right questions and give the right directions will help the models. Here are the MCP's I used with Kilo Code: - Context7 - general software development knowledge - convex - your special MCP server which helps a lot for the realtime convex database backend - shadcn-ui - for the components Thanks to the 'Convex' team for the generous free tier (which I hopefully will not burst now with this announcement). I look forward to do more projects with this realtime engine.
