So, your API keys section looks like this? Make sure "Always use my API keys" is turned on

Once that's done it should let you send messages with the Gemini model selected, but if not, try giving the page a refresh just to make sure the preferences are loaded
It's possible the chatbox got stuck in a weird state when it tried to send a message with the auto model -- we'll make that experience a bit better
