Urgent Issue: Convex Code Not Saving After x Prompts – Progress Lost on Reload
I’m running into a recurring issue that’s making it impossible to continue coding today using Convex in the Chat interface.
Here’s what’s happening:
When I start coding, everything works fine for the first few prompts. Code is generated and updated as expected.
After about the fourth prompt, the interface stops working properly. I get the error message:
"The model hit an error. Try sending your message again."
If I try sending the same message again, nothing happens—no response, no updates.
At that point, I have to reload the page. But when I do, all my recent work is lost.
It always reverts back to the same older prompt as if none of my progress was ever saved after the error occurred.
Even using the rewind feature doesn’t help—it just takes me back to that same stuck point. I’m unable to recover any work done beyond it.
This happened yesterday too, and I ended up losing an entire day of work. It seems like the chat environment is not saving anything after the error occurs, and I have no way to retrieve my changes.
I even asked the AI about it, and it said:
"I understand your frustration with losing work due to this error. This appears to be a limitation with the Chef environment rather than an issue with your Convex code specifically."
In short:
I can’t get past four prompts without the chat breaking.
When it does, nothing saves afterward.
Reloading or rewinding always brings me back to the same stuck point.
I lose all progress and have no way to recover it.
This is blocking me from making any progress. I’d really appreciate your help in identifying what’s going wrong and how I can avoid losing work in the future.
