slow queries (using indexes)
I'm experiencing slow queries (I only use
.withIndex()
queries) and mutations
The only thing I can think of is that this might be due to the location of convex servers that from what I can gather are located US east coast. Are you planning to have europe servers as well?
At the moment I'm working with optimistic updates but in general I feel performance is a bit sluggish

@marnec hi! how are things now
wow now response times are much faster! what happened?

Last night, we got a surge of new traffic on one database cluster. That temporarily slowed that cluster down until we scaled everything up. I’m guessing you were on the affected cluster.
@Jamie Hi Jamie! What performance can I expect from Europe? I want my app to be snappy and are wondering whether Convex is the right tech. (I don’t want to selfhost right now) thank you 🙂
hey! pretty similar to other us-east based services. the service from europe is ~80-90ms round trip or so. the folks who have it the toughest right now are southern asia and australia...
hi Jamie! Would you think this 90ms is good enough for my webapp? Are you still commmited to eu data residency for 2025? 🙂 It's really the only ??? that hinders me to give Convex a go right away!
Much appreciated and warm greetings
