How is DB Storage and Document Count calculated
Hi, for Bandwidth I understand the calculations but what is DB Storage and Document Count? On some days these values are 0 so just 0, but on other days they are really big. So, I don't understand what they mean.

Document count is the number of documents in your DB, and document storage is how much space they take up.
The 0 would suggest that you had no documents on those days, which is surprising. We'll look into it!
Yes, excactly, in all those days I store data but your system thinks I store nothing.
And another question: The DB Storsge on the top: What does that mean? It does not align with the DB Storage in the graph.
@FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 can you share a screenshot that shows the discrepancy?
862 MB + 287,33 MB = 1.149 = 1.15 GB
Hey @FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 , thank you for reporting, we're looking into the days that show 0 storage. For the discrepancy you mentioned, we use binary megabytes/gigabytes, so the conversion is 1024 MB = 1 GB. In this case, 1149.33 MB gets converted to 1.12 GB.
perfect. ok. nice
Hi Rebecca,
UPDATE: My DB Storage dropped again back to 0, but my data is still there.
hey @FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙, we've found the source of the bug and are implementing the fix now. I'll let you know when that's landed!
@FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 this should be fixed now moving forward, please let us know if you see it dropping to 0 unexpectedly again!
Hi Rebecca, it seems like this update broke the Document Count, because I only have two branches (Prod and Dev) and store only 147.245 Documents in them. But in the Dashboard it shows that I store 442K Documents. I also don't have another team member which could use this other amount.
Thank you very much for your support. This entire support system from Convex is amazing and I never had such good support with any other service.
hi @FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 it looks like there's another dev deployment owned by a user who is no longer on the team. this isn't great, so we're looking into it
yeah, I kicked him, because I have to much storage usage and I thought his deployment would go away and free up some space
with kicking I mean I just removed him from the team
In general I would ask: How long does it take if I kick a user that his data is removed?
currently the data owned by kicked members is not removed, but this is poor behavior that we're looking into right now. Thanks for reporting
hi @FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 thank you for your patience! your former teammate's storage usage should no longer be counting towards your team's usage. please let us know if you see further issues!
thank you!
in the future: if I remove my teammate, will his storage instantly be deleted or saved for a little bit of time (and is this represented in the dashboard)
@FleetAdmiralJakob 🗕 🗗 🗙 we're still working on the change to automatically delete storage when someone is removed! the storage should be deleted instantly, but it may take some time for it to get reflected on the dashboard
