Unknown Database Bandwidth Usage
Hi there cool Convexians,
An odd question here...
In our project we have a large amount of bandwidth usage coming from something called 'Dashboard' but it's not a function call that we make or even in something in our code.
Is this bandwidth usage innate to ConvexDB? I may be tripping or just not looking hard enough but I have zero idea where this is coming from and any ideas would be super helpful.

We need to put some mitgations in place. But if you've got the data screen in https://dashboard.convex.dev open in the background when there are a lot of updates happening then this could happen.

For now, just make sure you close the dashboard.
So just making sure, this blowout of bandwidth usage is from the Convex Webapp, not my project correct?

All good, thanks for clarifying, do we know if it will get to a point where dashboard viewing will not be logged as personal usage?
We'll work on improving the dashboard so that it doesn't inadvertedly consume a ton of bandwidth.
We made a small improvement today to where the dashboard will not use database bandwidth while the browser tab is minimized/hidden or if you go idle on the "Data" page

Going forwards, do you think the dashboard usage will cause scalability issues for a project? Asking because I had to move to a paid plan because effectively all the bandwidth was taken up by the dashboard instead of my function calls. This is only at the stage of product testing so effectively 1gb of dashboard bandwidth was consumed by 1 active user.
